My name is Jonathan Fink and I am 13 years old. This fall, I will be an eighth grader at Wellesley Middle School. When I grow up I think I would like to be a civil or electrical engineer. My favorite subject at school is history and my favorite sport is baseball. In addition to delivering food with Lovin’ Spoonfuls I have served food at the Woods-Mullin shelter in Boston, and this September will by my fourth year walking in the 5K Susan Komen walk through Central Park, raising funds to find a cure for breast cancer.
Q: What made you write to Lovin’ Spoonfuls?
A: I wrote to Lovin’ Spoonfuls because it sounded like an interesting project that I could use to fulfill my social action requirements for religious school.
Q: It was so awesome to have you hauling with us! What did you think of the experience?
A: I liked the experience of hauling food because I felt good about what I was doing.
Q: Before you read about us, did you know how much food was going to waste each year?
A: No, I had no idea so much was being thrown away.
Q: Did anything surprise you about what you saw?
A: I was surprised by how big the Pine Street in was because I had only been to smaller shelter before.
Q: If you could tell your friends anything about what you learned about Lovin’ Spoonfuls, and what you experienced at Pine Street Inn – what would it be?
A: I would tell them to try it because it is not that hard and your are doing something good.
Q: Will you come haul with us again sometime?
A: Yes, definitely I would haul again.
Thanks Jonathan!! Hope to see you back soon!
