Dealing with perishable/prepared foods requires attention to detail and compliance with local health regulations. Lovin’ Spoonfuls is ServSafe certified, trained in proper food handling, responsible, and efficient. We adhere to strict safety criteria.
Legal Liability: Many first-time food donors are concerned about their legal liability in regards to donating perishable food. Please refer to the Good Samaritan Act, signed into law by President Clinton in 1996. It provides federal protection to food donors. Information can be found here.
Individuals: Unfortunately, we cannot accept food donations from individuals.
Organizations: Please contact us to obtain additional information on how your business or organization can donate food. Please note that Lovin’ Spoonfuls does not have cold storage facilities. We directly distribute perishable food on the same day as we pick it up. When you contact us with the details of your food rescue needs, we will work with our drivers to determine whether we can fit your organization into our current schedule of deliveries and distributions.
Events: We do prepared foods and event pick ups on a case by case basis. Please contact us for additional information. Please note that in these cases, we require advance notice of the event so that we can work with you to adhere to proper safety guidelines. Unfortunately, we cannot pick up food from events if arrangements have not been made ahead of time.
